An audit should assess actual and expected demand. However, audits are equally useful for established homes. Frequent Wi-Fi complaints, camera outages, inconsistent smart-home scenes, visible cable clutter, unexplained devices, and difficulty supporting guests are all signs that the network deserves professional attention. Homeowners who inherited a previous owner’s technology stack should be particularly cautious. Unknown passwords, unsupported hardware, and undocumented wiring can create both operational and security concerns.

A proper assessment should result in more than general recommendations. It should provide a prioritized remediation plan that distinguishes urgent security issues from performance improvements and longer-term upgrades. Not every finding requires immediate replacement. Some issues can be corrected through configuration, while others justify strategic investment in cabling, managed switching, wireless redesign, or a dedicated equipment environment.
